Mallee boy, you cant take a sentence out of a whole few paragraphs and then anotehr sentence and refer to them as being different in what they are saying. The first sentence you refer to I am referring to conditioning being the important factor not age, ... the second I am saying that because older people are conditioned for longer then they of course are more afraid of using the computer than younger people. Johnny B has implied that age is the factor but it isnt ... it is amount of conditioning and therefore on the most part older people are more conditioned against the internet than younger people.
For example, the opposite is true for body image in society. Those who are 20 or thereabouts have been conditioned stronger that you have to maintain a certain body image because of the strength, access and power of the media and focus in society towards being thin etc. This focus has become stronger over the last 15 years than it was 30 or 50 years ago, so those of that age are conditioned more powerfully than those who are older. So it is not age that is the important factor but conditioning ... since conditioning is dependent on years then age can often be a secondary factor.
You can also have where an older person of say 60 has access to a computer and learns the internet as technology moves forward but a 25 or 30 year old who did not have access and now has a fear of the 'big' internet. Does that make my point clearer?
As for people in the country, I think you will find that access to the internet overall is not that great for them. Stats show this. Of course as i have said all along there are exceptions so that older people from teh country will of course be fine with internet etc
