ceepat...
We've missed you!
I'm recovered now, thank you. I hope you will be too, soon (from the dental trips etc).
Re Believer - lol Wish I knew!! Well, that is, I wish I knew what it was I did BEFORE my most recent reply. It's okay. I've been getting odd visitors to my website's guest book lately too. It's an odd feeling to have stalkers when you're a relatively unknown performer. NOT suggesting Believer is one. I mean a couple of the guest book visitors.
Thanks for the congrats. I was showing a random stranger some magic yesterday and it never ceases to amaze me the stupidity of folk. Believe it or not, there are people in the world who believe that magicians have supernatural abilities. After I performed my best card routine to date, staring at me in awe, he said, 'That's real magic!' and with complete seriousness and genuine interest, asked, 'Is it some kind of spiritual power?' LMAO. I decided to have some fun when he asked how long it took me to learn and wound him up with a tale of a 6 year travel through Asia till finally finding a special Tibetan monastery at which to study.... COMPLETELY had him going (I am also an actor, so it's good to hone those skills now and then with a good piece of BS). I did admit in the end that in reality, it took me just a couple of days to master that particular card routine (much more complex than my usual fare). Curse my honesty. It would have been fun to let him go off believing he'd had an encounter of the paranormal kind but I just didn't have the heart - or is that heartlessness? Hehehe. I'm now beginning to delve into Mentalism - mind reading, mind control, psychic readings, that kind of thing. Should have pulled THAT on the dude. He'd probably have run away in terror LOL cos that stuff is the closest thing to real magic you'll ever see.

Anyway... Back to karaoke but still with a magical reference.
Next weekend, my magician buddy Fast Jimmy will be staying nearby and given he is now interested in starting to sing again, he asked if there were any karaokes in the area. I suggested we visit this karaoke booth place in Parramatta. I think it's referred to as a 'karaoke cafe.' That'll be a new karaoke experience for me. I've done the usual pubs / clubs type karaoke, restaurant karaoke, jukebox karaoke at parties and even just the karaoke CDs in a friend's lounge room but I've never done the booth type. So, that ought to be interesting. At mention of it, he said excitedly, 'That sounds like fun!!' He's still shy about his voice even though I think he's quite good after having heard him at Mic Rophone's gig the other week. Very humble, self deprecating guy - even about his magic.
Hope the song list is full of ones I know cos I'm trying to help Fast Jimmy find songs that suit his voice. Like a lot of people, he likes tenor songs but his deeper voice will need some range extension before he can tackle those with confidence. It's exciting to have a karaoke protege! lol
