From the Where2sing.com forum:

As a psychologist, Tom you have to be the most closed minded one I know. Can you not see that the most important thing you should have learned as a psychologist is that people are different in the way that they think, what they like, what they mean when they say stuff, how they behave etc? It would seem that you are the one that is in need of some negative thought counselling to see that there are many ways certain words and phrases can be perceived ... yet it seems you continue to perceive the negative meanings only as true. I agree that you are the ageist one, and you need to realise that life is about getting old and that things change from the individual to societal level and everything in between.
As for being good for karaoke as it spurs debate, I disagree. Just because someone brings up the same points continually every few weeks that are negative and therefore inspire people to respond with their frustration and anger does not mean it si a good thing. If that were the case, does that mean Anthony Mundine is good for the boxing or aboriginal community because of the stupid continual comments he makes that definitely inspire feedback (mostly in the negative, as with Tom)? I think not!! Mundine just like causing issues and has a flase sense of himself.
Tom, please, find a venue that suits you and stick to it, or get your own machine and sing at your place. Do you not get that people are not interested in your consistent negativity? The variety of karaoke is good for karaoke. There are some that suit older people, some that suit the younger crowd, some younger people who enjoy the older songs and quieter venues, some older people that enjoy the loudness and mayhem of 'younger' venues, and some that enjoy one type one day and another the next. The variety is the important basis of karaoke venues. Variety is what life is about. Everyone thinks differently and therefore desires different things!
