| From the Where2sing.com forum: Leather Baron......WorBilly etc.......We half debated these issues a couple of months ago under the guise of song rotation and I believe it is the hosts responsibility to the publican,singers drinkers etc to ensure a good show-otherwise the paypacket ''''will'''' stop.Fortunately for us most of the nights dictate themselves but if not subtle measures have to be taken.Most of the regulars know when it's time for the right song and often say to us the crowds ready for such and such.Most of the casual singers come in with upbeat anyway but the easiest way for all is to have them pick a couple of extra songs and slot in where judgement requires.Also most of the time people are tossing up what to sing.For example 'why not try Eagle Rock or Brown Eyed Girl-the crowd will love it' does hit the ego of anyone with a few beers under their belt.And sometimes the hosts may have to sing that extra song or to to build up the tempo.
As to songbooks I have a mix of both with a little more by artist than by song.
