From the Where2sing.com forum:

Ah so many responses necessary.
Firstly Leather Baron, I could answer in two ways one smutty and rude and the other what actually I liked about the Karaoke Venues.
On both occasions the mainstream of singers and onlookers were all supportive and friendly.
Also the atmosphere was one of partying with people up dancing no matter what the singer was like.
Secondly R&V I’m not prejudice as we also have squashed ones this side of the border. Lol
In regards to song books I have found that the majority of singers like the Artists first books as opposed to Songs first.
I have 6 Artists and 5 Song first books at my gigs.
I also have a master list of all songs and artist on hand for those that want a different version.
These books way a tonne but as a Host I believe we should give singers what we as Hosts like ourselves when we go to other Gigs.
As far as letting people Host I actually had a Hosting competition which went for quite a few weeks so I’ve been there and done that.
I will not cull songs out of my song books such as ballads as Karaoke is for all and individuals have the right of choice.
When we start to take choices away we start to limit our assets.
The last time a Host said to me “you can’t sing a slow song here” that was his choice, it was also my choice to take my money elsewhere and never to return.
Tricia good suggestions.
Kind Regards
Kev
