From the Where2sing.com forum:

Hey TrishD...
Welcome to the site. I know Dean the KJ you mentioned from the Top Pub. Great guy. I know his wife too but haven't seen her in years although we have renewed email contact this year. They're both nice people.
BTW, I suggest questions and talk regarding local gigs be restricted to the NSW forum selectable at the top right here ;) My understanding is the General forum's more for stuff concerning everyone on the site. Besides, you'll find a lot of talk about the relevant gigs to your area in there. Whole bunch of folk karaoke in the western suburbs.

WorBlly...
Terrible of a fellow host to do that to you.
Elvis is timeless. It's not his fault some people fancy themselves in his image ;) Just play him the relevant line from Shania Twain's 'That Don't Impress Me Much.'
Speaking of Elvis and karaoke, I went to ksolo today to do some recording and was horrified by some of the guys' renditions there of 'Blue Moon' (which I had a stab at myself if you'd care to listen). They just sounded like the typical impersonators who give the King a bad name. No sincerity, no trying to do the song justice, no change of tone. Instead, they put on the 'uh huh huh' voice and murder the song with it. Grrr!! How I hate them!!
I also recorded an Engelbert Humperdink song but I did a crummy rendition thanks to many distractions here (home) at the time of recording, so I'll be re-recording that one soon. Blue Moon's good though even if I say so myself.

andlyn & 'the lurker' :p...
I discovered today that my voice needs mixing like a female's! That took me by surprise. Makes me think vocal fx are dictated more by resonance and vibrato than pitch but whatever! It works and that's what's important. So, my thanks to you for the brief mixing lesson. Much appreciated!
Decided to hook my studio mic up to my guitar amp which, unlike my pre-mix has reverb and mids dials on it (pre-mix only has treble and bass). Amp works a treat - and gives much louder input to the computer without distortion.
Okay, end of geek-speak. Just saying thanks. Cheers!
