Believer, Tom has not, as yet, qualified the measurement of IQ he is refering to, he has at one point referred to 'stupid people' but in no way refers to 'lower IQ' I believe his statement regarding IQ is a generalised statement regarding karaoke audiences whether they measure 70 or 120 it is a well known scientific fact I.Q. levels need to be stimulated and what better stimulus than karaoke!
Believer you mention uni students (higher IQ) and the 'stupid' fun things they do, which is not always loud music but in some cases absolute anti-social activity, I talk from experience having had to entertain our future 'thinkers' (he he) and not unlike wolf (as an ex acohol/drug rehab worker), I have experienced another side of higher IQ from a lower socio economic group, and have had to entertain them on a very regular basis to, it is my observation, with the exception of those that have impairments, our general audiences IQ levels would be very high!
Unfortunately when you mix it with the 'jungle juice' stupidity can and does prevail, thats when loud is not LOUD enough and microphones are mistaken for drumsticks,trousers and underwear no longer need to be worn and it is cool to dance with your $15 drink in your hand,giving the dance floor a sticky wet rinse!
This is Higher IQ at work whilst relaxing and socialising and we as Karoke Hosts are entertaining them until management steps in and adjusts it. Let us not forget Karaoke is no different from any other Pub/Club entertainment and the required stimulus of that IQ on the night will determine the nights outcome!
So back to Tom and Believer forget the I.Q. 'bull' its all about respect and responsibility all round and that R&R must start with me at all times, I do gigs where, if you are to believe the 'experts', the IQ levels should be 70, another were they should be 80's believe me with the odd exception every gigs a great one, thats a HIGHER INTELLIGENCE working Ay!
