From the Where2sing.com forum:

Tom and complements for the season to you before I take you to task.
At the moment I’m sitting behind a computer doing my annual pilgrimage of updating my Karaoke books.
I do this twice a year and in between those times, I insert new song sheets in the back of the song books.
This updating takes me quite a few days not only going over nearly 19000 songs to correct spelling etc but then by cutting out the duplicates and finally coming to a list of around 11000 songs (without repeat) so people such as Tom have nice new books to look at.

In between a break and coming here, I then read that Tom “won't be going to any more pub karaoke, thanks to the noise and hooning”.

Tom you are now guilty of what you hate and have placed your self into a Stereotype category.
There is nothing wrong with Hotel Karaoke, with many people enjoying their Karaoke fix each and every week at their local.

I now speak for all the Hotels that I’ve been to around Australia and the majority were great, noise level great, hooning none.

Tom I often resort to a true story that happened in the Towage Industry.
A Captain joined the Towage Company and after 4 weeks complained that the Deckhand was no good.
The Company replaced the Deckhand.
Several weeks later the Captain again complained about the Deckhand and he too was replaced.
This went on every several weeks for about 4 months, until the Captain complained again and asked for a new Deckhand.
This time the Manager told the Captain his services were no longer required.
The Captain asked why and the response was “that all the deckhands could not have been that bad and it must have been him”
Kev’s analogy ends.

To anyone reading here for the first time don’t let Toms ridicule of Hotel Karaoke stop you from enjoying going to one.
As a Karaoke Host that has worked at the same Hotel for nearly 5 years (Peakhurst Inn) and visited probably more than most, I can honestly assure you that most Hotels are not as bad as portrayed by Tom.
Kind Regards
Kev
