From the Where2sing.com forum:

Daniel S, there are many ways to make it a successful first night but the most important thing is don’t get flustered enjoy what your doing.
Fair rotation is a must.
Don’t hog the Mic but communicate with everyone.
Another important thing to remember on the night is the singers and their friends, you are there to make them feel good and get them as many songs as possible.
Never insult singers if they get up and have a go get the audience to cheer no matter how they sound.
Treat singers the way in which you like to be treated when you go to Karaoke to sing.
There are many more but I won’t bore you.
My 1st gig was like a family party as some of my family and friends came along to support me.
This does help :)
You’ll be ok and remember you can only get better.
My last tip is to visit as many Karaoke venues as possible and pick out the things you see that appeal to you and avoid those that don’t.
This will surely develop your Karaoke skills.
Kind Regards
Kev
