TOM is correct in saying that 'loudness' is really only a perception .........ie by correctly using your equaliser in an appropriate way...............you as a host can create the 'illusion' of loudness without it actually registering on the ricther scale (particularly in the 2K and 4K range of frequencies).......this is where prudent use of subwoofers also comes into the picture..........but TOM by the same token .....and I have asked you this question before and given no response I might add.........what do you use as a benchmark for loudness??.........is it only when TOM cannot have a deep and meaningfull discussion with his wife sitting say 5 metres from FOH?........or is there some benchmark figure (say 100db) to which we can all relate?..in our Venues the level can be anything between 95db-110db depending on where it is measured and the type of music in question and thats with a18'subwoofers 15'FOH and a 12' foldback
