From the Where2sing.com forum:

Visited Chatty with my girlfriend on Friday night after dining out nearby. Alas, the mood wasn't up to par. Seemed an introverted crowd when we arrived but Garry & Di still ran a great show - even with their jet lag! It was so great to see them again. My mood picked up after some catching up with friends and Chatty's always good even on a bad night.
I was really nervous about my first song - Elvis' 'You Gave Me A Mountain' cos I'd been experimenting at home with technique singing powerful numbers like that about a week ago and been unhappy with the results. It was also my first proper sing in a good while but whilst I was singing, I was finding the song much easier than it had ever been in the past (ain't sung that one in about a year or 2) and the response from the crowd was great! Even my gf said she couldn't understand what I was worried about.
It's nice when you're nervous about singing at karaoke and then you wind up doing way better than you thought you would, isn't it? Of course on the flip side, it can be rather humiliating to sing way worse than you thought you would too! Been there many times! LOL
Jon Bon Jovi's Bed Of Roses proved more challenging than usual on the high notes which was disappointing but as far as mediocre performances go, I think I did okay. That was a request from the gf. She hasn't heard much of my singing yet, so that was a new one for her to hear me do.

Looking forward to catching up with you all and your other halves on the weekend! My gf and I will likely be a bit tired on arrival given that the night before, we're going out for dinner with friends to celebrate my upcoming birthday. Lots of January / February babies here at w2s it seems. Don't know if we'll head to a karaoke afterwards but it's on the cards cos the restaurant shuts at 10:30 which is still early enough to go find somewhere to sing. I'll be checking the Gigs guide here just in case.

Have we met at Chatty? Could you give me a clue as to your identity like whereabouts you were sitting on Friday night and what you sang? I'm guessing you know by now that I'm known as 'Johnny B' in karaoke circles and my little pseudo-blog above about my songs ought to jog your memory of who I am.

WELCOME to where2sing. I hope you find it useful and that you get to meet new friends in person like many of us have already. You'll probably hit a few bumps along the way as far as forum rules go but you'll get the hang of it in time, don't worry :)
A few 'domestics' break out from time to time but usually it's all okay here.
Do you prefer to stay local for karaoke or are you a willing traveller if it means getting the best karaoke entertainment you can? Where are we likely to see you singing (or THINKING about singing)?
