| From the Where2sing.com forum: Ahh the old 'undercut gig' debate.
Business is business and if your good at what you do and know how to build relationships you will keep the gig. I am sure the 'really top notch' hosts will agree with me here.
Here is some sagely advice for you and if you heed it you will be super successful in business:
Business is not just about the service you provide. Most people don't realise but it has a lot to do with your ability to build strong relationships with your clients.
The club won't consider anyone else if you communicate reguarly with them and discuss what is working and what isn't. If you suck or if they don't like you then anyone that comes along will get the gig. This guy obviously kept the gig because he does a good job not only as a host but probably because of his relationship with the club.
Don't blame the host trying to undercut you. When you fill up fuel, do you buy it from the most expensive service station? No? Why not? The other cheaper service stations are only trying to undercut the expensive ones! If I was deciding to buy fuel and it was a few more cents but I knew I could get other stuff I needed from the shop I would use that servo. Because of the SERVICE.
It's all perspective people.
