| From the Where2sing.com forum: I have in past posts referred to the overall national value of our beloved Karaoke Hosting Business, from memory it was worth around $14m PA according to the W2S gig listings of the time (this is gigs only income not the hardware/disc retail sector) I think if we Hosts were to tally up our investments in rigs,discs,vehicles etc we would find the break even is a long long wait!
In fact as a full time business venture Karaoke Hosting is and always will be a RISKY business as is clearly demonstrated by the huge amount of part time operators in the game with full time occupations financing their passion for 'Show Business'!
Before giving up my 'real' job to concentrate on my 'passion' for karaoke, my business plan allowed for the inevitable risks ahead, I have made purchases and decisions that have cost me time and money ( a nescessary learning curve) a plan to expand, employ and enjoy has been reduced to the reality that my business is only as good as I make it and as good as I am at it!
So with this revelation my pursuits and concentration are now entirely towards Karaoke Hosting and the success of presenting and marketing the best show and service available to all my venues current and future, in an industry that offers a nationwide income opportunity of only $14m I have to be at least the 'sharpest tack in the box' to get what I budget to be my market share!
Yes, Malley Boy, it is 'Show Business' but the cost attached to showing your best must be covered at all times by strengthening relationships with venue management, marketing and canvassing my business at every given opportunity and as has already been stated treat everyone (including competitors) with RESPECT...
