Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Im not looking at hosting in this venue at all.I love Karaoke and can would like to buy the equiptment and was hoping to be available for pub/club gigs and private parties etc. more so for my own enjoyment( bored mother of 2) and a bit of pocket money.A HOBBY. I really do not know about the equiptment but would like the easiest option for me to set up.My brother is a singer/musician and can help me with alot of this but I thought you would be the right person to ask. I figure with the amount of colleagues i have in the Hotel Industry and understanding that we don't like to be locked into any long term promotions that I could pick up a few gigs here and there. No commitment ( RSL/Golf club functions etc jazz Karaoke for the oldies is what I have in mind). Regards

Ah, and there was me thinking you'd seen some professionalism and experience in the hosting f some of those who ran some of the shows at your venue...lol! But then, I guess if you had, you wouldn't be thinking that someone could come new to hosting karaoke, buy a karaoke system, and get into enough local clubs and pubs on the word of a friend. And it's a fair indication of the perceived professionalism of most hosts that they are seen this way. But that also gives you a great opportunity to buy some else's rig and have a go yourself - on the last W2S survey of hosts, something like three-quarters of them had equipment but no regular gigs. Some replied that they do parties, and it seems that when the promises of help to get gigs from friends doesn't lead to much, that the gigs are rolled out for the occasional function, and the host returns to work in the office. If you want some gear, let me know what you want and the cash price you;re offering, and I'll spread the word. Perhaps remember that karaoke hosts are knocking on the doors of clubs and hotels every day, and you could be putting your friend in a difficult position if you rely on him to find work for your equipment after having bought it. Another way to go is to seek gigs and rent equipment - not only is that the correct progression in starting a business, but it'll give you a good idea of what equipment suits you.
