From the Where2sing.com forum:

As to the success of W2S - how is this measured? W2S prospers because it took so much time to programme that no one in their right mind would set aside the time to do that all over again. I did it for a number of reasons including that I myself needed a W2S to find gigs, but probably more just to see if it could be done. The subscription is there to ensure those using W2S place value on it, because before the subscription, W2S was ruled by people who enjoyed trashing it - and I'm delighted that so many people now find real value in W2S (thank you all my subscribers).

I don't publish success stories about W2S because I don't see the website as an end in itself. It's to help people find new gigs and expand their enjoyment in life (karaoke=life) as well as meeting others and making new friends. I don't necessarily view the growing number of forum posts as success, but rather the intangible, or perhaps subjective, inceasing quality of posts.

Whilst talking about forums, in perhaps the same way that hosts gain satisfaction from following the progress of their singers, I've enjoyed seeing James T become a Leo Tolstoy both in quality and sometimes in length of post, Leather Baron go from being a singer to drag to hosting, and documenting the experience on W2S (seems like last century when we were introduced in a bar at Bondi Junction), and many others make advances in their lives.

On the other hand, W2S is driven more by complaints than by positive feedback, an example being the recent complaint about restrictions on placing gig details in the forums which prompted me to make the forum links to hosts' gig listings.

Mic... you'll obviously have seen the W2S site statistics in this weekend's News Email. Unfortunately, even if I gave you the hits figures from one year ago, they would mean little. The best indication of the success of W2S is in the increasing amount of gig feedback of genuine quality, the number of friendships that are being made via the forums, and the library of photos being amassed by many gigs. And, yes, the reason I continue to run W2S is because of the enjoyment I get from so doing.

Meet karaoke hosts and singers in the Where2sing.com forums . . .

KARAOKE in Australia

You've found the #1 website with the original and biggest karaoke gig listings database listing nearly 1,000 gigs across all states of Australia - each listing with full venue name, address, phone number plus extensive information about the gig itself. Read feedback from singers who have already visited the venue, and see information such as songlist size, crowd size, type of singer and even how much applause you can expect when you visit each gig.

Or visit the forums where both singers and hosts meet and chat - including State-chat forums where you can make friends whom you'll meet up with at a venue near you.

And there are the Gig Reviews, the constantly updated 'National Top 10 Karaoke Venues' chart, specialised lists of venues for Under 18s and currently running Competitions, lists for karaoke rooms, restaurants, karaoke hosts and supplliers, and karaoke news from all around the world.

Of course, the best way to keep up to date is by opting in for the FREE weekly Karaoke News Email.
