Another gig on Saturday - probably our most popular gig going by the number of singers we go through ( more than Chatswood ) is made up of 50% drunk youngsters yet we get huge numbers. No, I don't think you can just blame the bad singers.
I think the key is atmosphere. If you can build an embracing atmosphere that people are drawn to they will return. Regardless of the average singing quality, wait between songs and other items that singers regularly nominate as barriers to returning.
