| From the Where2sing.com forum: I do not reserve songs either.
When someone puts in a song then that is their song to sing regardless if a regular happens to sing it every week.
Songs are not owned by anyone and as cottongin has put it 'First come first served'.
If two people put in the same song I will ask the 2nd person (or the last one to put it in) if they would like to pick another song as someone has already put that same song in, if they say they still want to do it then I will allow the same song to be sung but explaining to the singer that it won't be in the same round.
I have actually been to a venue that has told me that Joe Bloggs generally sings that song so you cant sing it because they may come in. yeah right give me a break.
One of my mates put his songs in early at a particular venue and was told later that night that he couldn’t sing one of the songs because the Secretary of the Club had just put it down (some hour and a half after him).
Consequently my mate has never returned.
To all those singers that think they own a particular song well you don’t.
To all the Hosts who reserve songs for their regulars or Mates at the exclusion of others, that will not gain you any more singers.
To everyone else demand to sing what you want.
