| From the Where2sing.com forum: BarriTone, harmonising along or doing background is an entirely different thing from 'singing along'. No-one who knows music should object to someone doing the 'doo wop', echo, or even 'Hit the road, Jack' parts because they are an intrinsic part of the song and a host is only bolstering what is already in the backing track. Indeed, the song sounds odd without them.
Egomanical hosts, however, actually want to sing the lead or a harmony where none is warranted, thereby competing with and detracting from the singer who is often wanting to show their voice to whoever has come along with them (friend, spouse etc). A host who does this is not really a KJ.
