While, 'Having no compelling reason to do something doesn't necessarily give a compelling reason for the opposite action,' is true, my question was prompted by your post which reads, 'Sorry, I don't see a compelling reason to endorse a W2S on facebook, but I do see many compelling reasons not to do so.'
To the detractors of facebook's w2s group...
To compare the w2s site with the facebook based w2s group is silly. They are each based on very different foundations and rules and have very different structures. It should also be noted that they are not competing entities: -
Karaoke is the commonality of interest for all of us here. W2S allowed / allows for sharing that interest. The facebook w2s group allows people to share multimedia, take their discussions beyond karaoke, make direct contact with each other and even possibly learn more about each other based on information provided in each other's online profiles (dependent on how accessible individuals choose to make their own profiles).
