| From the Where2sing.com forum: I disagree that Guy can't sing. In fact I think that Guy Sebastian and Matt Corby are the only 2 of all Idol finalists that can actually sing well. As for competing against these people, I think it really does show to yourself and others that you are as talented as them if you can be judged better than them or on par. I think there are many in teh music industry who dont get breaks that others do. They are as good, if not better but dont get a break. So I would love the opportunity of singing against them if it was available.
I agree with you MA that the post regarding income makes the KWC less of an event for the best as well. On a similar note there is a competition in QLD that offers a $10000 first prize but excludes you if you have won any karaoke comps before. That seems silly to me too. What if a person has won their local karaoke event for $200. They effectively get excluded, whereas someone who came second in a comp and got say $4000 gets to still enter. I think all comps should be open to all. No exclusions. If a professional wants to give up a few nights of making money from gigs to 'try his or her' luck in a comp where they may not get anything, then let them. If they are really good then the audience get a cool show, and with that rule maybe more top entertainers would enter and try their luck but overall the audience gets a good show
