Glad to hear Peaky was a hoot - boxers and all... lol

Last night, the gf and I went to our fave venue in Chatswood - the long running one with Garry and Di at the helm.
We didn't arrive till quite late but I was counting on the cold weather keeping things quiet for us. While it was indeed quiet on our arrival, we were only in time for the latter part of round 1 (as I understand it)!
I hopped up to take a crack at a song I'd never sung along with before, let alone tried out on stage; Roy Orbison's legendary 'Crying' expecting to struggle noticeably given the nature of the song. Serious doubts were also voiced by comp chaser Robert after he heard my song choice - not so much by what he said but more by how he said it, 'That's a HARD song...' His facial expression of, 'Are you sure you don't want to change your mind, you crazy person, you?' made his opinion on how he thought I would do, very clear! lol. On stage, as soon as I chimed in with the vocals, I realised, 'Damn this is even higher than I was expecting!' and expected to crash and burn fully come the end of the song. A few iffy notes in the early part of the song didn't help my confidence levels (nor did the still alive Papa Frank doing his little hip wiggles in front of centre stage as he does so annoyingly - from a limelight hog's perspective lol - but seriously, when there's a whole dance floor to be utilised, why insist on facing the audience and dancing right in front of the singer on stage? That's just plain rude, that is!). Anyway, come mid song, I was glad to be getting into the swing of things and when all was sung and done, the audience response was wonderful - not just to the song but to my rendition of it. Most gratifying :D That song is now, officially, in my 'repeat worthy repertoire.' I was still on such a high on my return home, I sang it a couple more times to myself. Hehehe.
While at the club, gf and I were treated to finally seeing Garry and Di cutting a rug on the dance-floor. We were privy a while back to their plans to dance and were eager to see their moves. I tried to film it on my phone for posterity's sake but the picture was too dark to see anything unfortunately, so it will just remain a pleasant memory of seeing 2 of my favourite people finally up and dancing together after all these years.
Hmmm. Seems to have been a night of firsts: There was my attempt at The Big O's 'Crying,' Gaz and Di burning up the dance floor and Jenny Fitz sang a Celine Dion number ('Think Twice' - don't know if she's done it before but it was the first time I had heard her sing it, so that counts! LOL). She did it very well too!
All up, it was a fun hour and 20 minutes to spend! Like I said, we were late and unfortunately, we had to leave in time for the gf to get home and get at least SOME rest before work today. She doesn't sing (yet) but that venue is her fave and I think it is a testament to its consistent ranking here as the #1 venue. There's something about Chatty :)
