I don’t understand why some operators do not list all their gigs here.
Vegas Karaoke is one of the oldest and more respected outfits here in Vic; I know they have 8-9 gigs, but only 6 are listed; I am of the opinion that it’s not for me to list the gigs for them, although I know the operator personally; maybe he has a reason not to do so.
Other non-subscriber Vic Operators come online here, to write 2 reviews about their own gigs to gain access (those 1 or 2 line reviews praising the venue and the hosts, to me it’s painfully obvious that they are no more than self-laudatory statements), blow their own trumpets, update their own gigs, and then disappear till the next time.
And judging by the last dates some gigs were last confirmed, it would seem that not all Vic Operators come online to update their own gigs or may not be even aware of this site
I don’t think there are that many subscriber or non-subscriber Vic singers who come online here either – they are the main source of up-to-date info about gigs, as they are the ones attending them all.
Apart from the page in my songbooks promoting this site, I have not seen similar promotion in any other venue’s / host’s songbooks (albeit I have not attended many other venues recently). Is there an incentive for a host or venue to promote this site? Would a host or venue operator direct singers here where they, the singers, can look up for other competing venues to go to?
UPDATING GIG LISTINGS:
LB mentioned about the cost of ringing everyone up – have to also factor in the time involved. LB also mentioned in a previous post about the general availability of emails for most venues – now, that cost nothing – emails to all venues not confirmed in the last 6 months wouldn’t be that time consuming, I don’t think. And once that emailing-list is created, it’s just the matter of a click of the send-button every 3-4-5-6 months to reconfirm details with each venue.
