I dont know what sort of karaokes you have been or ran but I am a karaoke singer who makes sure that I change my songs every week when attending karaoke to avoid boredem for the regulars. And as for being challenged and judged.. Well, standing on a stage in a room filled with drunks, older people, younger people is one of the hardest situations to put yourself in. You are being judged even when you dont want to be. And the challenged is always there. Learning new songs, trying new styles, its not as simple as most think it would be. Idol is just a very large karaoke comp.
