VICTORIANS TAKE OVER : SAMMO'S RIGHT OF REPLY (3)
RESPONSES TO SUSAN - PETER D'S WIFE
PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITY (for your input and personal touch):
It is easy to be REACTIVE after the event, easier still to take pot-shots and make comments and post-event suggestions, but it would have been judged more PROACTIVE, and certainly applauded as being USEFUL to all concerned, if all was all done BEFORE the event!

This night was first mooted back in Oct, with Ric first suggesting that it be held on Cup Eve 31st Oct (didn't hear boo from any of you
then). Everyone had over 5-6 weeks of pre-warning since then, and plenty of opportunity to put in suggestions, and plenty of time to volunteer input and services.

And Susan, your good husband only put in a mobile call to me and said yes, we are coming, with our equipment, and Daniel, during the week ended 4 Dec 2005. Now, if either of Susan or Peter was to have requested a planning meeting, during the week leading to Dec 11, to discuss and perhaps set a program for the night, or just ran that idea past me over the phone, it would have been welcome with delight!

And even on the night itself, Susan and PeterD were the second (Adam, followed by Aidy, were the first) to arrive to set-up their show-and-tell equipment, followed not long after by Rooster. Nothing was mentioned or suggested, or enquired then, as to how things were organised for the night, or how you guys may want things to be run to your best advantage, or put up your hands to volunteer your assistance throughout the night.

And there wasn't for the lack of opportunity for you all to do so ? As requested by Peter, I ran everything by Susan for approval (like where they want to sit, as they had first choice of seats in a rather empty restaurant then, like whether it was OK for Susan and Peter to share the banquet meal set for 4 people with Adam and Aidy, etc.).

Any one of you could have grabbed me and dictated what you want, for your show-and-tell, and for your active participation during the
night. As it was, I carried on by myself, thinking that everyone's there for a relaxing time to enjoy himself or herself like Teresa puts it in a post on this site ?

PETER D's OFFER TO HOST:
Yes, PeterD did come up to me and volunteered his services during the night. Can you remember what time that was Susan? That ONE time Peter came up and volunteered ? about 10.30pm'ish according to my fading memory of that night?? And in response I said to Peter, yes, once I finish with that rotation round ? but low and behold, do you recall that probably 10-15 mins after that, people were leaving en masse, as all complained they had day-jobs come Monday morning? And what time did the singing actually stopped? Just past 11pm, and we were left with only Harry and Stanley singing? Hosting opportunity lost then.

No one else came and offered their assistance during the night.

Yes, maybe it was bad organisation on my part.

And yes, maybe I should have gotten around the restaurant when I had a singer on, and asked for hosting-volunteers in between songs.

And yes, maybe I should have set a roster up at the start of the show ? saying who is going to host for which half hour slot.

And yes, for this cock-up I do apologise for, as most of us have not experienced each other's styles, and yes, I did say that there will
be rotating hosts ?

But if we are going to have something like this again, do not take the organiser as a mind-reader, say something BEFORE the event,
volunteer, it's but only an email or phone call away ...!!

SINCERELY
