| From the Where2sing.com forum: Ray - An amusing and in part effective justification and insight into the reasons for consuming alcohol and the fact how Karaoke shares in the the cause of this dilemna, unfortunately the consumption of alcoholic beverages requires the consumer to be of mature age, therefore is it not 'normal' to expect mature behaviours?
Of course we can all get on our psychological high horse and debate what is the 'norm' but let us not forget in a public forum especially one that serves alcohol, standards of behaviour are laid down by law, not by individual opinion as a great number of posters have tried to make us believe, the Venue has a duty of care at all times, those that drink to excess or those that encourage it do not CARE or are incapable of caring until they examine and take responsibility for the damage they may have created!
Ray I suggest you get down to your local courthouse on a Monday morning and monitor how many 'variables' appear after a 'Fun' night out 'fuelled' with the 'singing syrup' and how many times the Duty Counsel will use their clients intoxication as an excuse for their actions unfortunately most of them up in the 'dock' can't remember their 'Fun' night out but those of us whose 'Fun' night out was ruined certainly do and as you suggested to Tom vote with their feet!
As a Host the security and duty of care of all my customers and staff are paramount and I have no problem pulling the plug when they or myself is confronted by 'Juiced up Jerks' and believe me Ray when they are removed (if I have not lost too many patrons during their act) the bar and the restaurant continue to click over and usually the customers continue to return!
