From the Where2sing.com forum:

I actually like Dean's way of doing karaoke. It is different to others and is probably more for a younger crowd. I also like other shows as well though. I don't think that becos his style is different and some people don't like it or think it is too 'out there' for them means they have the right to bag his method out. It still works! But saying that, neither does any host have the right to bag out the patronage at a certain venue. I think a venue can change the demographic of its patronage but takes time! Apparently, from reading through this stuff about the Band Club, they are after a younger crowd. The hard thing for the host trying to get that younger crowd will be having to deal with the regulars who are pissed off 'their show' has been replaced. That host has to be extremely tolerant. In the entertainment world of which karaoke is a part, there is bitchiness, backstabbing and politics. Too much of it and it does no good for anyone. But people are people and it will happen. I dont think Dean has shown that tolerance so far but he may learn.

But I also dont think others are realising from the cat slinging that has gone on, that obviously Band Club management (who are the gods in this case) chose to try for a younger crowd and thought that getting a new host for karaoke was part of that strategy. Let us not bag out the hosts, wherever they come from, who are just trying to cater for that strategy as asked. If Band Club karaoke patrons had a problem with changing hosts, maybe they need to go to management, not attack any new host. But it also seems that has alerady been done, to no avail. They obviously want a younger crowd, so either continue to go to whoever the new host is and adapt to a new karaoke hosting style or move to another venue?
