| From the Where2sing.com forum: PeterM... all companies have advertising costs, and I imagine Capital's sponsorships, given that they seem very widely spread and not individually of great cost, are a very cost-effective part of their advertising. Overheads would surely make up most of their disc pricings, with the cost of overnight mailing every order (in some cases a single disk) representing a high proportion. As for their prices, I'd imagine that, like most other businesses, they are set at the highest they can achieve. When it comes to Capital's own discs, there probably is little alternative, and it would make sense for people to add a few other discs into the order at the same time. I think we'd be very lost of an alternative to Capital for overnight discs and the production of Australian songs.
But this dual requirement is only part of the market, and as singers become more enthusiastic, is it fair to guess that individual purchases of discs will increase. And in the semi-permanent Capital 'specials' a sign of this? The question is, has this already happened, and are Australian disc suppliers currently missing out?
