From the Where2sing.com forum:

I think when we are performing, comp especially, we should support other contestants, encourage them. I tend to be a bit shy, so it is not always easy to do, but the more you do it, the easier it becomes.
I actually felt a bit awkward when I was outside chatting to some of the other singers, and missing others, so I excused myself and went back inside.

Kieran the guy who won, did a great job, in speaking to him, he mentioned that he is always in the top 5 of karaoke/singing competitions, which means he must do a lot. I don't like to judge but I think he feels he is (and probably is ) in a level above the rest and should win. He got second in Karaoke World Championships last year or the year before.
As a musician now for 20 years or so, I told him he should be looking into doing his own show at clubs, in my opinion he has outgrown karaoke. He does theatrical no.s and always brings a change of clothes for each song with props. He has a lovely, loving supportive wife too who sews his costumes apparently, his Colourful costume he used at Nortons was amazing. I think, personally, that he is a great performer, he sang well on Saturday night, (I have heard him on a bad day too). I believe that when you get to that level of performing, you should leave karaoke competitions, same with Natalie who won the Nortons comp.
Kieran mentioned to me that Natalie had tried a few times to go professional, but that because of her being a little plump she hasn't been able to make it, because it is all about image. Kieran though has the image, and could go well in the clubs.
Maybe, as I am thick set, I won't make it big, but I don't believe image can stop me or Natalie or anybody singing and entertaining people.

I had fun last night at my solo piano/vocal gig, big restaurant at Stamford, lots of international visitors and a few birthdays.
Started with the lounge swing no.s, ended the set with You Raise Me Up. 2nd set some latin bolero/rumbas/bossa novas. Last set, I sang some Billy Joel, Lionel Richie and Beatles then ended with 'The Prayer'
I had some great comments throughout the night, not that you live for them, but they are nice when they come.
I asked the Maitre D afterwards, how was the sound, not too loud etc...
She said to me: the last song (The Prayer) got a little bit loud, but it was ok as Anthony Callea is staying in the hotel, and I guess you did it for that reason....
No... I said, I had no idea, and had to laugh, that's funny
I don't think he heard me, but I prefer Bocelli's version anyway...
