A huge proportion of Victoria's karaoke gigs are in the outer suburbs - that itself was the primary deterrent why most ardent karaoke fans like myself shy from visiting them, as these are mainly midweek gigs too - 45 mins to an hour travelling time there, and then another similar journey home after closing time of midnight or thereabouts, midweek, is not very enticing) - and now, with the rising travelling costs factored in, these venues will certainly not attract more than a localised following ... and therefore are now more prone to being discontinued.
