Host from NSW.
In regards to your question.... Quote; why should those of us who have paid $25+ per disc then be required to pay an apra casual blanket license fee, seeing as though the disc manufacturer has already paid the royalties to the artist at the time of making the disc, I fail to see why we are then required to pay out exorbatent fees to a government agency for loading our legally purchased discs onto a hard drive. End Quote.
The fees are because you are making a copy of the original track from a disc. It is the same as a manufacturer who pays for every time the track is produced onto a cd for sale.

As for the ..... Quote....cost of downloading tracks in the way you refer to is alot cheaper than buying a whole disc. End Quote....This is no different to the way Karaoke has become cheeper from the cost of lazer discs to the current cost of CDGs. As technology changes so does the costings normally for the cheaper.....We all have the choice to stay with discs or move on with the times....BUT do your homework as there are a lot of not so legit ways to go and you could get stung big time.

Singer from NSW.....If you purchase downloads from another country the download fee should contain the file transfer fee to the relevant bodies of that country...therefor it does not have to be paid again to APRA.

Everyone really needs to do their homework and speak to MIPI and APRA prior to shooting their mouths off and get their info right first. You are not just messing with people livelihoods but also as their integrity as a person.

If you are so adamant they are doing the wrong thing....take it to MIPI, let them investigate and then if your accusations are found to be true then and only then let people know.
