From the Where2sing.com forum:

phew, are we ok to talk now ?
I just had a very busy week, so have been trying to catch up here lol

Let me say, it is nice of The Fox and Hound in WA and the hosts to congratulate the singers that came through their clubs.
In NSW, both finalists came from the same club too, One World Sports, and we didn't get that kind of extra treatment, so WA finalists were definitely blessed in that regard.

Secondly - I had the opportunity on Sat night to run a One Person Hosting Karaoke gig in Western Sydney, my first ever hosting a full show. I have a new respect for the Karaoke Hosts, it is not an easy job (unless you are Malley Boy :p) There is a lot to juggle, getting songs up, finding disks, finding disk numbers for songs that people want to sing, talking to people you know so they don't think you are a snob, keeping the public interested and getting them to sing, keeping music playing between songs, choosing comp finalists, keeping song rotation fair, remembering which tray the correct disk is in (sorry Born2Sing and Rachel hehe), and making sure the intoxicated don't damage the equipment when trying their Jimmy Barnes impressions.

It was a good learning experience, and Born2Sing's other half Rachel was there and a valuable asset and help when needed, it was a big crowd for the club that night, and many stayed around, though not all sang. The club was pleased, and so was I, as it was a good night ( and I didn't fall flat on my face haha).

I said all this because...

As singers we need to not take things personally, and have patience and respect for the Karaoke Hosts, as it is not as easy as it seems, and hey, they are people too.

An applause for all the Karaoke Hosts here. As Hancock would say, Good job!!
