| From the Where2sing.com forum: As i've said in a previous post its great sometimes to have an extra pair of hands and ears so if there is the availability to have a 2 person crew why not but by no means does it makes a better show as Greg . W writes you get in the ' Zone ', of-course being one out the host possibly won't be able to do somersaults & back-flips on stage But hey ! thats not for everybody anyway lol
So that buries the point that computer karaoke may save bucks on a second person doing a show as it is more a choice thing than necessary thing to cut down on costs
I also feel that computerised karaoke will-Not create more singing time over the period of the night as a ' on the ball ' host who correctly uses a triple decker , by correctly using i mean loading the 3 trays with discs for the next 3 singers plus being able to do several things a one time..ie..Talking / Mcing and keying up next singer and even adjusting the sound....and of-course being aware of whats going on around him or her and being well organized and making sure that the singers are aware of there turn in the rotation ( when possible )
Yet in saying that please let me say this that time marches on and nothing stays the same forever and if i was starting out now yes for sure it would be computers but i feel that to change just for change sake or to ' keep up with the Jones' well i think i would do a lot of ' home-work ' first and as i've heard that many of these computers have a habit of ' crashing ' from time to time for-sure from now until the foreseeable future i would not ' place all my eggs in one basket ' and still take along the 'old jvc and discs , just in case ,especially hosts that have to travel long distances to a job and are unable to nic home ......
