Double R - I think you might have hit a nerve but I have to say you are wrong on the age issue.

Most of the hosts that are successful are older hosts who sometimes also have younger sidekicks/DJ's. In order to be a host you need to have a certain decorum about you, which is something that is rarely found in younger people. I am NOT old by any means but as a karaoke goer I would much prefer to deal with someone who 'of age' then a young, jumped up little upstart that thinks that they know everything about the music industry simply because they have studied the Top 40 ARIA charts.

When choosing a song from the 80's list I do not want to be asked by the host 'Who are they'!

RR - you say that you do not want to hear hosts singing songs from 2008? Considering that on average a host would sing a song perhaps 3 times an evening, then I would not be worried about what the host is singing? It is the patrons that I would be concerned about.
