| From the Where2sing.com forum: TMOZ - I take your point but in my eyes all contestants like yourself are THE ADVOCATES that improve the status, I have been involved in the 'emotion' of the experience and have been the brunt in the 'nasty' side of competition, that aside, I truly believe respect & encouragement for all contestants at Venue & Host level is paramount in producing a better perception of this type of competition and the promotion of those talents should be capitalised on.
In our case my venue still runs a congratulately slide show featuring and applauding all of our contestants, during the Trials the State winner and other finalists were invited to a special celebration night put on by the pub and I am now putting together another feature based on the Aust. Final and pre promoting 2009.
I have put my hand in my pocket, to invest in a first hand experience by being there on Final Night and I can assure you the experience I have brought back will be shared with all those runners up in the 2008 event ensuring they have all the opportunities to represent their Country in 2009!
Prestige as you put it is only as good as the 'individual' bestowed with it, a true winner in my book is the one who has successfully endeared himself to his supporters & audience, a person who respects and believes in their own endeavours and continues to be remembered for their qualities, that is why in my last post I pay tribute to all of you as you are all the future of this competition!
TMOZ, thank you for your comment , as a State runner up, Congratulations and please believe me, you are not forgotten, if you can recall the appreciation the audience had for you on Finals Night then be assured there is a lot of people who will remember your performance!
