From the Where2sing.com forum:

Had the night off last night so I thought It was a good opportunity to get out and support other host's shows. Ended up at Ray's (Wait for a song) at Lambton. A number of Good and Not so singers in the Very POOR rotation list... Most singers (regulars) who turned up at the start of the show got 3 songs. Those who arrived mid show also got 3 songs... Then those who happened to put on a dance and move HIS hip while singing got 5 songs... This Pissed off the regulars to see ONE particular singer getting 2 songs in a row and within 20 mins singing 2 in a row again. I am not having a go at Ray BUT.... The Pub staff wanted the crowd to dance and this young guy (who sang mainly Elvis rock stuff) was orderd by the Pub staff to be bumped up the rotation and sing next... Now I have run shows for umpteen years now and have never had a publican tell me how to run my show... If you are affraid of loosing your show because you cant say NO then you have a fragile business.... If the Pub wanted to Hire this guy for a Friday or sat night well the hire HIM and let him sing all night. This was KARAOKE..... and as we all see here about FAIR and Equal Rotations the Pub was out of Line here... I know from the regulars last night that thos who left early in disgust and dissapiontment wont be returning to that pub. Regulars are the backbone of a sucsessful Karaoke Business. Piss them off and your reputation slides real fast... Sorry Ray, but as a host for many years in this wonderful NEWCASTLE town, you need to stand taller and say No..... (pardon the pun on your height)....P.S I did enjoy the nights entertainment....
