From the Where2sing.com forum:

TMOZ.......I am not dismissing any of your suggestions.....forgive me if it appears so....and indeed many of your suggestions have merit.........the point I make is that OVERALL (depending on your system) your settings should be such so as to cater for a very wide range of singer and singing ability.....requiring only relatively small amounts of adjustments to suit any individual.and again it all come down to gain structure.............Imagine pouring ample amounts of fluid into a funnel leading into a thin pipe......... what comes out at the end is a trickle .......conversely imagine pouring liquid into a thin pipe...leading into consectutively large pipes.....what comes out at the end is a distorted version of what went in in the first place...does that make sense?

So it is with sound.......too little signal (input) into proportionally too much amplification..... what do you get at the other end.?.distortion and speaker clipping........Too much signal (input)into to little amplification (restricted)..the end result is essentially the same as the above.........(includes mic popping)..when you learn to balance those aspects of your system then you will achieve a good if not perfect 'gain structure'....and make no mistake you dont necessarily need top end gear to achieve that balance.

I hope that at least makes some sense ? .LOL
