From the Where2sing.com forum:

This subject and discussion of rotation is nearly old as W2S as it has been and no doubt will be raised again.
The only logical debate so far about why not to stick with strict rotation came for Vic (Rovics of Qld) who although had several regulars relied mainly on passing trade.
I can understand his point of view that he juggled the rotation to suit the passing trade and to atract people to come in.
But for a regular gig in a Hotel or Club one would think that the best way a rotation would or should work is to be fair to everyone.
If you are known to be a fair Host then people will come to your Shows.
I agree with Jeff in that I also treat everyone the same yet try to make everyone feel special.
To me they all are special and that includes all singers as well as non singers.
I also agree with Malleyboy that the Venue management want profitable returns for putting on Karaoke but they also want happy customers that want to return and they inturn bring new people along.
If you have a system of rotation that makes people happy go for it.
If not you must look at your rotation method and adjust it accordingly.
Its not just rotation that gets people upset there are many more
From rude Hosts, to wasting time and even singing along with someone that doesn't want you too.
So a good topic should be 'What makes a good Host'
Now this is more a singers question but as we Hosts go to other venues to sing it should also be answered by Hosts as well.
