The first thing you have to learn is that in business no-one is going to help you, but you. You are always going to hit undercutters, the challenge for you is how do you face that in business and succeed in spite of it?
There is always a solution even if it is just to work harder, see more venues and educate them as to why you are a better choice.
If all else fails put together a smaller rig with a smaller list, cheaper mics ect. and offer a budget version of what you do.
Every company in the world faces what you face.
The thing that amazes me about most karaoke hosts is that they feel that whining about losing a gig to someone else is good business practise.
Could you imagine a Mr Packer or a Mr Murdoch whining publicly about someone beating them in business?
I think not....
What I do is think about what I can do to help my business and think nothing of these undercutters other than how I am going to beat them.
The result? I've never lost a gig to another host and I don't plan to.
