RE: 'Submitted by Johnny Burrows (a singer from NSW, Australia):
Hello
Johnny Burrows here again (after thinking a few months ago would be my last time), popping in just to make a brief statement and clear up a few things at the same time.
In times past I have voiced my opinion that professional singers entering karaoke (amateur) competitions seems in bad taste. I have found an exception to this rule due to a private family matter. If someone dear has a potentially fatal illness and the medical bills are likely to pile up during the course of treatment, I feel it is morally justifiable to try and earn extra money however you can to help bear that financial burden - karaoke comps inclusive.
I shan't go into all the details but you get the gist so far I am sure. To this end, I am seriously considering entering the comp circuit once more to help my family if I can. I may have joined the ranks of the professional entertainers but I am not yet gigging consistently, so covering the bills will be a challenge.
I just wanted to clear that all up before someone spots me at a comp and says, 'I thought Johnny B was against pro's entering comps' or some such.

To Norton / Keaton...
Rather cowardly to criticise me in my absence immediately after I had stated I would not be back. Had the above tragic circumstances not taken place, I would have stuck to that conviction. So, THIS will be my last post here.
Also cowardly of you to be such a homophobe as to give the rest of us straight guys a bad name. Stop that. (I refer to your fears of checking out the Taxi Club while still posting as 'Keaton' and of course to your childish accusation of Mike Rophone and me being gay lovers which you posted as 'Norton.')
Mike Rophone was in error when he said I receive $600 an hour as a singer.
Your remarks that I am a 5-song repertoire sort of fellow were mistaken also.
Don't know who you are. Only have suspicions.

Julz...
Sorry for the hot headed remarks in the Ask David Forum all those months ago. Didn't realise I was conversing with a woman. I would have reacted much differently, sexist or not.

So, once again, that's all from me. Mainly wanted to ensure any accusations of being a hypocrite were countered in advance. I have not decided outright to enter comps again but I'm just saying it is a possibility.
Take care all,
Johnny Burrows

Sorry to hear about your situation.I personally don't like the idea of pros in amateur comps it isn't fair on the other singers, but i understand your reasoning. In desperate times you do what ever you can and sometimes you have to compromise yourself and your viewpoint just to get through. If you're prepared to travel, there's a comp up here you could try..... They guage a pro on whether or not he makes a livable income. I know this is a late post but I hope this helps. I'm in QLD though. email me and I'll give you the details.....
