From the Where2sing.com forum:

I find myself unable to let pass some of the comments made lately without clarifying a few things. I don't propose to offer any opinions, as i would expect them to carry about as much weight & substance as some i've recently read & already dismissed as unfounded. Instead I will concentrate on what I know to be fact. 1) I know David no better than any number of hosts that have been involved with W2S since it's inception & to suggest that there is a favouritism at work regarding the voting system or any other connection is untrue. We've all at some time received less than flattering reviews, who amongst you remembers RSK's early days at the Illawarra Catholic Club, scathing comments made there & I did'nt see David doing me any favours then !! 2) I fail to understand where this perceived rivalry between Chatswood RSL & The Chatswood Club comes from, the two shows are on different nights & pose little competition to the other, infact, cross pollination of singers could be a good thing. You may also remember some time back, a new show at the Orchard Bar in Chatswood hailed by David himself as a fresh alternative to Friday nights on the North Shore & i'm pretty sure there was'nt a single harsh word uttered. This was direct competition, two shows on the same night within spitting distance & it was all very civilized. 3) I acknowledge that I know who 'Karaoke Blackbelt' is & whilst I am upset that his comments & opinions have helped to draw us into this nonsense, I respect his right as a subscriber to offer them. We all have friends in the industry that would seek to defend the honour of their favourite haunt. 4) I have read Davids review of The Chatswood Club & submit that they certainly have the right to feel a bit miffed, however, & I pose this to Mark directly, your suggestion in our comments section that 'your sound output is very much like ours, excellent and crystal clear' may have been interpreted by David as a personal challenge & may have contributed to the further comparisons. Once again I draw no personal conclusions, as I have not attended a Sunday afternoon, but hope to in the near future if we can put all this behind us, after all, as hosts we rarely get the chance to socialise with our patrons & as we share so many of them, it would be a perfect opportunity to kick back & let someone else do the work. 6) I don't care how heated a debate gets, if anyone ever calls any of my singers 'Retards' again & I find out who it is, I promise you will deal with me personally. 7) For what its worth, my fav karaoke gig at the mo is the Edinburgh Castle, heaps of attitude & atmosphere + Denny & Aaron are awesome.
