From the Where2sing.com forum:

Hi all and back to the clean Mic topic.
Roz it is a worthy topic which was raised some time back when David use to put on the W2S site Daily Questions.
I remember saying to all Karaoke singers to check with their favourite Karaoke Host if they regularly cleaned their mics and if not insist they did or find another venue that cared for their singers not just in songs but also their Health.
As a rule I clean my Mics after every show.
I unscrew the heads of the mics and put them in a plastic container filled with hot water and anti-bacterial washing up liquid and give them a good shake and then rinse and dry them.
I don’t want to turn people off but Glen 20 does not get rid of nose hairs that can fall into the mics.
Just before a show I also spray them with Glen 20 so they are nice and fresh.
The last time we discussed this on W2S a few singers said they were allergic to Glen 20.
Can’t please all but cleanliness is paramount.
Yes I have had people rub them into their crutch but with clothes on thank goodness.
I have also had a guy who was drunk at a party put the whole mic in his mouth although the amount of alcohol he drank would have been enough to kill all the germs probably better than Glen 20, LOL
Kind Regards
Kev
