| From the Where2sing.com forum: MA: I would hazzard a guess that the majority of people who go into comps are looking for confirmation of their ability; I know that's why I used to go in them. Sure, there are confident talented singers that go in comps and it's usually these singers that get to the top of the heap but by and large, I reckon 80% of comp entrants are either insecure about their singing or deluded. Probably going to get shouted down by that and sure, the 80% was pulled out of my eye socket, but it's surely the majority...
Having said that, I reckon the goal of a karaoke show and the goal of a karaoke comp seek to achieve diametrically opposite things...
