From the Where2sing.com forum:

Vic I have used covers and they are spit catchers ..............yuk.
I also find the best way is the same as you, by washing the mics and foam inserts in an Anti Bacterial solution after each show and drying in the sun.
Instead of Glen 20 (which some people are allergic too) I now use Bosisto's Eucalyptus spray.
Last night I had someone cough in the mic just as they finished their song, a qick spray and off we went again.
At least I start off a show in the knowledge that the mics are as clean as I can get them.
I have been to heaps of shows where I reckon the mics have never seen any cleaning, with the only spray being use on them was that of the singers.
