The crowd at The Palace on Thurs 21 May 2009 night I would term as 'normal' for a pub karaoke venue on a late Thurs night. Throughout the night when I was in attendance, total number fluctuated around 20 (singers and patrons) in the karaoke showroom area (including the back tables, before the pool tables). The larger crowd was in the SMOKING AREA!!!!! I must admit The Palace has a luxurious smoking alcove, which also opens out to the main road (glass-screened) - I would be rapt with it, if I am still a smoker!!
And yes, The Palace has the potential to draw in a bigger karaoke crowd, with properly placed advertisements .... and word-of-mouth.
Yes, generally, numbers are down everywhere I have been - of course, exceptions are karaoke comp final nights, and of course The Knox Club which was literally standing room only in the main karaoke room the Saturday night I was there, and there were 2 rows of audience too out in the TAB area looking into the karaoke room (seated on bar-stools and standing).
