Tricia I think that any host that sings 'Meat and Potatoes Man' .by necessity has to be good ....LOL
cottonginn....obviously my previous statement is a silly one....I dont know of any Host that thinks they run a bad show?.
Its long been clear to me that the qualities of the Karaoke Venue itself ...has a huge bearing on the success (or failure) of any Karaoke show.....If we as hosts are fortunate enough to have a venue which by virtue of its location.... ambience or whatever ... manages to attract patrons without too much effort ......Then we should consider ourselves very lucky........there is nothing worse than running any venue that struggles for patronage.
That said ......I do believe that a quality Karaoke will always do better in any venue..........What is a quality Karaoke ? ...that is very subjective and impossible for me to define ........some singers (and Indeed many of us) get so accustomed to their regular (or our own) karaoke that anything different ... or louder ..more bassy ,,, different acoustics...softer or whatever.... takes them too far out of their comfort zone and they will almost always go back to what they are used to............I have enjoyed myself at great Karoke Shows and also at what most would consider poor Karaoke shows.....however the Venue .....audience....and general vibe of the night in question made it all worthwhile.
I think Host are probably the worst people to judge/criticise another hosts shows for the above reason......and Its always best to take on board any impartial constructive critcism from 'good' singers.and/or the likes of David who get around to many venues and dont have an axe to grind.
Maybe others could express what they feel ...in particular The ambience (or lack therof) of Karaoke Vnues
