| From the Where2sing.com forum: All this really says is for hosts to be more specific about the rules that they do put up for competitions. A competition is for a financial or other reward and therefore to some degree should be thought of as fraudulent from a legal standpoint if not run correctly. I mean that is why lotteries are run with overseers, or the Idol competitions supposedly have overseers, or why there has been major court cases for fraud throughout the ages when competitions have been biased.
I find that there are a good sample of karaoke competitions set up for the regulars and that regardless of the quality of the competitor that is not a regular and regardless of their reason for not attending that gig on a regular basis (even though rules rarely state that there requires a need), the judges bias towards the regular and they will win the comp. Should not be allowed! A competition is a competition - allow all and sundry ... don't discriminate on any basis!
