From the Where2sing.com forum:

Hi Ace

Sorry, I never called your cohost a liar about the sign, just stated the turn of events as it appeared to me as I walked in, I did put his reply in my original post to clarify my original impression. This wasn't the issue. I didn't even have to ask the people I was sitting with about it on the night.

What annoyed me was the changing of the rules, which disqualified me, he said they were posted on the website.
They weren't, he was mistaken.

I also have to correct the directors and yourself, over the last 5 weeks, I have attended 4 times, the first time I arrived around 9:30, had never been there and got a bit lost. That was the first I heard of the comp that night. It was said that to be in the comp a person must attend 4 times.
The second week, I got there around 10:15 after my gig, didn't get a song but enjoyed just sitting around chatting and listening to the singers, hoped I might get a song in, but didn't worry me.
The third week, I got there at 7:30, ordered some dinner, sat down and chatted with Murray, sang a couple of songs and got through.
Again it was mentioned that a person had to attend 4 times to be in the final.
The fourth week, I had to go to the 40th birthday party of a close friend, and was unable to get to greyhound club.
The fifth week, I had a gig, but packed up in record time to get there as soon as I could, to be told the books had closed, no dramas there, was prepared to wait around. This was to have been my fourth attendance at the heats.
But when I was told categorically that because I had not been there the whole night, I was disqualified from the competition, I said no, I was told I had to attend 4 times, and I had mentioned to you on Thurs.
He said no, it doesn't matter, that I was too late. It was announced when he had been cohosting (first time I had seen him) and it was outlined on the website.
So I sat down with my bought drink and checked the website on my phone
Here are the only rules listed on the website:
'All Contestants must attend 4 heats to qualify for the final'

The fact is the rules changed. 'They then said if these people don't turn up before the books are closed they're out.'
'because I had not been there the whole night, I was disqualified from the competition'

I don't care about winning, just wanted a chance to sing well, competitions are good for pushing yourself, and improving.
All I wanted was a fair chance to compete in the competition.
I would have been there for more weeks if I had known, and had hoped to make it a regular Sat karaoke show to attend, which I mentioned to you on the first night.
I was given the impression that the decision had been made, and I had no say in it. I left because I felt excluded from being part of the night and the comp. I also had an early start in the morning, so without a reason to stay out late, I went home.

I hold nothing against you or even your cohost. I am disappointed at the competition rules changing. Having had it happen to me before made me annoyed that is all.

Peace
TMOZ
