I arrived at the venue just after 9:00pm. Karaoke is held in a loung bar off the Sports Bar. Nice comfortable area, with a couple of couches, a few tables with chairs, and a few bar tables with stools scattered through the room. Two pool tables down the back of the room , and also a couple of game machines. Several TVs showing races on one wall. Outside smoking area with tables and chairs. Elevated stage positioned at front of room with entrance to toilets seperating stage from the Bar.
Installed sound system, with sub woofer in the stage, and 2 pairs of EV speakers suspended just above the front of the stage.
About 4 foldbacks positioned at the front of the stage. One Mic stand with Radio Mic, (second Radio Mic in hand with Host if required for Duets, etc). Only deficiency in equipment - No TV for the audience.
Although advertised to start at 8:30pm, Karaoke didn't start until about 9:15pm, most probably due to a lack of singers putting their names down. Upbeat background music played between Karaoke songs, sometimes a fair bit louder than the Karaoke.
Crowd numbers were between 30 to 40 total with only about 10 at most singers, with myself and others who consistantly put their names up, singing about 4-5 songs each.
Audience sound really good, On stage sound - OK, but I had to ask for the Foldbacks to be turned up, (personal preference - some people don't like foldbacks blasting the music or their own voice back at them).
Good selection of songs in extensive song listings, discovered some songs that I do not have in my list which I believe is pretty comprehensive, (trying to get a hold of these songs at present).
Friendly, efficient host, (Shrek?), friendly staff, and friendly crowd.
$50 cash prize given out at the end of the night.
All round, a pleasant Karaoke experience. If numbers from the night are an indication of weekly numbers - a good venue for getting in a number of songs.
