| From the Where2sing.com forum: I guess at the end of the day the only value I now see these days in the W2S site is really only the gig listings. It would seam that any value in forums these days is only to those that wish to talk techno mambo jumbo about the way the site runs.
The forums in the website used to be alive with discussions , debates and so on. ALL New posters were offen welcomed to the site by not only David but also by other regular w2sers. I was not long ago proud to see my little girl B Star now 22. join in on the site for a chat. New blood ,new generation and a valid contributor to the site. I was very suprised to then see that only a few that know her welcomed her to the site. It really did surprise me that David did not even welcome the new poster considering she is now the one that is going to be maintaining the gig listings for me. I know David reads every post so why not a welcome to her.
And also A big thankyou to those forumers here for the best wishes on my 40th last week. The thing is that culture of the forums in not a friendly place at most times and offen the people that go to them are either full of venom and on the attack or full of themselves. I have been coming to the W2S site for a good few years and have surley seen some changes and David has done some great work in providing such a great tool for the industry. Its a real shame to see the forums being a ghost town of late.
I guess Facebook is where people now go to chat about karaoke. I dont really know if anything that could be done to make the forums a place people want to chat. Maybe some new chat rooms could help. FRIENDY ROOM . WELCOME ROOM, No chest puffin room. just to name a few.
I dont have the answers for changing or improving the site. But like other host I am looking at getting someone else to maintain gig listings for me in the site and am considering the value in involving myself in any of the forums.
