As for the KWC Vic Final, I am glad you were able to find a good substitute for the late withdrawal.
My friend had both vocal discomfort and dental problems (she eventually had her wisdom teeth out that week I believe). But I think such physical traumas are 'minor' and can be blocked out if one really has the passion to go through with it, bypassing all pain barriers. I think it was the forward planning, or rather the lack of it, and the inability to commit to an overseas trip, away from her job, that was the cruncher - my advice was to 'pull the plug' if there's no unconditional commitment to the quest. There's always next year .... and other opportunities .... and only when total commitment can be promised!
